The TDA Paired Placements Programme

The following materials have been produced by a team of primary practitioners and ITT/E providers, namely Bedgrove Infant School, Bucks, Boyne Hill School, Maidenhead, Montem Primary School, Slough, Rush Common School, Abingdon, Oxford Brookes University, Westminster Institute and The University of Reading.
They are intended to be used in context where there are paired trainees working in classrooms.  Although the work was carried out in FS/KS1 they are relevant throughout the primary phase. These materials may be relevant for using in preparation for paired practice or during mentor training sessions or during feedback sessions.  Each provider will have its own requirements in relation to documentation. Materials provided here are merely exemplars.

AIMS OF THE PROJECT

  • To encourage and support schools ‘new’ to paired trainees
  • To introduce the training DVD to support new mentors
  • To support current mentors with paired trainee placements
  • To encourage trainees to evaluate their practice to take their learning forward in order to become effective practitioners
  • To provide examples of how to develop paired trainees creatively.  Ideas will be included in the supporting handbook and PDS will have a helpline on their websites.
